The 2nd show of 2019 “Estate Italiana” was presented by the Italian firm of Pirotecnicia Giuliani s.r.l.. They described it as follows:
“The show is a tour in Italy, to visit our most beautiful places, and enjoy our fantastic Italian atmosphere. ‘’Italian Summer’’ is the pyrotechnic representation of our summer. The peninsula and its magical nights, when everything becomes poetry. Our intention is to transport the spectators in our magical Italian summer atmospheres.”
It didn’t take me to Italy, but it was a very colourful show. All were taken from the Mackenzie King Bridge, looking up the Rideau Canal to the Ottawa River. You can see the Peace Tower on the left, and the old train station and Chateau Laurier on the right.
The parliament buildings are currently undergoing an extensive restoration. The big ugly white “structure” to the right of the Peace Tower is an enclosure/scaffolding on the East Block. It would have been much less of an issue had they not decided to light it up!
